Used Collapsible plastic containers are heavy-duty plastic containers for manufacturing/agricultural and distribution applications. It is a large folding plastic box to hold bulk materials or manufactured parts. The box collapses into a compact and stackable unit. When assembled the containers can be stacked on top of each other up to 8 high depending on the load , while protecting the product within the container. Container ratings vary from 1200 to 2000 lbs or more, and they can be stacked 6 high (static load conditions) while holding that weight. These containers are made to perform in manufacturing environments, and have up to a 10year life. The containers can be easily repaired. They are typically used for storage or shipping of automotive parts and assemblies, truck, and appliance parts, and in a closed loop distribution system. Manufacturers include Orbis, Buckhorn, Schaeffer, Triple Diamond, and Monoflo International.
Used Corrugated Steel Containers use corrugated steel walls to provide product protection as well as a durable, heavy duty, frame for forgings, castings, and heat-treated products. These small metal storage bins have many style possibilities. There are many different style steel containers. There are containers with bottoms that drop out (Drop Bottoms) that allow the parts to tumble down stands, there are containers with sliding doors (Flowmatics) that also allow parts to tumble out of a container down a stand, collapsible, and containers with holes for heat dissipation (for parts that go in ovens). Powell Systems is a leading provider of corrugated steel containers.
Used Straight Walled Plastic Containers can be used for shipping manufactured products. These containers stack securely on a pallet as well as on top of each other. Straight walled containers often contain internal dunnage designed to separate and protect the parts in the container. Straight walled containers are generally designed around a 45 x 48 system that stacks on a returnable plastic pallet. The pallet load is then topped with a lid often referred to as a top cap. The load is secured with banding or seat belts. Container sizes include 15 x 12, 24 x 15, 24 x 22 as well as a few other sizes that cube the 45 x 48 pallet. These containers are made from HDPE and tend to be very durable with high weight capacities. The containers do have lids available but since a top cap is often used, lids are not always necessary. Manufacturers include Buckhorn, Orbis, Schaeffer and Monoflo International.
Used Stack and Nest Containers are used for WIP as well as distribution. These totes can store many kinds of products or goods, and are often used on conveyors between manufacturing and distribution operations. The containers protect the product and can be stacked on top of one another. They can also be turned 180 degrees and nest into one another for extensive space savings. This kind of distribution tote is used extensively in retail and distribution center operations, and often the totes have attached lids that provide additional product security and protection. The lids can be opened up allowing the containers to nest into one another using the nesting feature of the tote. The metal version of the bulk bins can be collapsible, folding or rigid. Manufacturers include Akro-Mils, Lewis Bins, and Molded Fiberglass Corporation.
Used Rigid Wire Baskets are heavy-duty non-folding wire baskets. They are used by for WIP and as returnable packaging by manufacturers of metal stampings, forgings and castings. These containers are rated to hold more than 4000 lbs. and can stack at least 4 high. They are usually designed size wise to cube a truck out. These containers almost always have one drop-gate on the long side of the container and have plug in socket stacking system that is very secure.
Used Collapsible Wire Containers are lighter than the rigid wire containers and are made to collapse or fold. Their weight capacity are between 1000 – 4000 lbs.. Collapsible containers have a capacity between 1,500 and 4,000 lbs. Like the rigids they usually have one drop-gate on the long side of the container. Collapsible wire baskets have 4 standard sizes 32 x 40 x 28, 40 x 48 x 30, 40 x 48 x 36, and 20 x 32 x 16 (Juniors). Manufacturers include Atlas Material Handling and American Wire Products.
Used Plastic Pallets come in a many varieties. They can be nesting for return shipment, they can be stackable, or they can be used in a racking system. They can be injection molded out of HDPE, thermoformed, or rotationally molded. Structural foam pallets offer lightweight strength and are usually used with racking systems. Thermoformed pallets are lightweight and are often used for one-way shipments over seas. Rotationally molded pallets offer low tooling costs for custom sizes, durability and can be reinforced with steel to provide additional strength. Manufactures include Buckhorn, Orbis, Thermodynamics, and Robinson Industries.
Used Hand Held Wire Baskets
are used for custom
handling of small parts as well as parts washing.
These baskets can be stainless steel or zinc plated
and do come in standard sizes.
Most of these wire baskets are custom made to handle
a specific part.
The basket is used in production and is sized to fit
into a parts washer.
Manufacturers include Salco and Midwest Wire.
Used Cantilever Racks are used to store long materials. The cantilever rack consists of a base, an upright, braces between the uprights, and arms. Cantilever Racks arms protrude outward from the uprights with the space in between the uprights open which allows a forklift operator to insert long materials into the Cantilever Rack. The material is supported in the rack by the cantilever arms and often hangs over the edge of the rack. Cantilever Racks are use by lumber yards and building suppliers to store items like steel pipe, plywood, dry wall, lumber, pvc pipe, etc.
Used Pallet Rack, also referred to as Selective Rack, is the most common type of rack used for pallet storage. Consisting of uprights and beams, this type of system offers flexibility in product height and lengths, and can be easily assembled. This type of rack is called selective because every pallet in a pallet rack system is accessible by forklift without having to move anything out of the way. Standard heavy-duty pallet rack can work for you if you have enough space or need access to each pallet individually.
Used Stack Racks are usually composed of a metal frame base accompanied by either rigid or removable posts. Stack racks can be made to almost any size and therefore are used to handle many items. They usually have a plug on top of the post and a target at the base to provide secure stacking. Stack racks can be stacked at minimum 4 high. Stack racks are often used for pipe and tubing which can overhang the rack, as well as for tires, and construction material. Stack racks provide flexible storage since they can be moved, and are often used for returnable shipping programs.
